1. Who we are and what this covers
Juris Intelligence, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Company," "we," "us," or "our"), operates Mneme, a study application for the iPhone.
This Privacy Policy covers the Mneme iPhone app and the accounts, authentication, content delivery, and AI features that support it. Our website at mneme.study is an informational marketing site with no login, no accounts, and no analytics or tracking — it collects no personal information — so there is nothing else for this policy to cover.
Mneme is offered in the United States only. It is not intended for children under 13 — see section 11.

2. The short version: your studying stays on your phone
Mneme is built so that the record of how you study never leaves your device. Specifically:
- Your grades and progress stay on your iPhone. Every card you answer, every rating, and your scheduling state are written to a local database on the device. There is no sync server; we never receive them.
- Your voice never leaves your iPhone. Speech recognition runs entirely on-device using Apple's on-device speech framework, and the model that grades your spoken answers runs on the device as well. We do not receive audio, transcripts, or spoken answers, and neither does anyone else.
- Explanations are the one exception, and only when you ask. When you tap Explain on a card, the text of that card and a small number of related cards are sent to our AI provider to generate an explanation. Nothing about your performance goes with it.
3. Information we collect
This table is our notice at collection. "Sold or shared?" refers to the sale of personal information and sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising under California law. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

4. Information that stays on your device
The following are stored only on your iPhone. We have no copy, no access, and no ability to retrieve them:
- Your review history and card scheduling state — every grade you give and when you gave it.
- Explanations you have saved to a card.
- Your spoken answers, and any transcript of them.
- The optional grading diagnostic log, which is switched off by default and which you can enable and delete yourself.
- Downloaded study packs, which are stored encrypted.
These are removed when you delete the app. Because they live in the app's documents area, they are also visible to you through the Files app and may be included in your device backups, which are controlled by you and by Apple, not by us.
5. AI features
5.1 On-device grading and speech
In voice mode, an open-source language model runs on your iPhone to compare your spoken answer to the card's answer. You download that model once, at your request. Speech recognition uses Apple's on-device speech framework. Neither your voice nor your answers are transmitted to us or to any third party.
5.2 Explain
When you tap Explain, we send the card's text and a small number of related cards to Anthropic, our AI provider, and return the explanation to your app. We do not send your grades, your history, your identity, or your device information with the request.
We instruct our AI provider not to use this content to train models.
5.3 What AI output is worth
Explanations are generated by a language model and may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong. They are study aids, not legal advice, and not a substitute for primary sources or your own judgment. See the Terms of Use.
6. Who else receives information

Each of these recipients is contractually required to provide the same or equal protection of your data as this policy states. They may use what they receive only to provide the service we engaged them for, and not for their own purposes.
We also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or someone's safety, and in connection with a merger or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply until it is replaced with notice to you.
We do not use advertising or attribution SDKs, we do not work with data brokers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. For that reason Mneme does not present Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt: there is no tracking, in Apple's sense, to ask you about.
7. Analytics and your choices
Mneme collects first-party usage analytics as described in section 3, and you decide whether it does. They are disclosed here and in the Terms of Use, which you accept before anything is collected.
They start switched on. By continuing past the sign-in screen you consent to this collection, as the screen states. You can withdraw that consent at any time, and doing so costs you nothing.
How to change it, at any time: open the Library tab, find Privacy, and switch Usage analytics off (or on). The setting is available without signing in, and it takes effect immediately.
What happens when you switch it off. The app stops collecting straight away and deletes anything it recorded but has not yet sent us. It does not delete measurements we already received — those are pseudonymous and expire on the schedule in section 3. Switching analytics off never limits your access to any part of Mneme.
One thing still reaches us when analytics are off: the record of which documents you accepted, when, and whether analytics are on or off. That is a legal record of your consent rather than a measurement of your behaviour, and keeping it is how we can show what you agreed to — including that you turned analytics off.
These analytics stay with us. They are never sold, never shared for advertising, and never combined with data from other companies.
7a. Study-update emails
When you sign in, a switch labelled “Email me study updates” controls whether we may email you about new features and other study apps we make. It starts switched on, and you can turn it off before you sign in, later under Settings › Privacy, or with the unsubscribe link in any email we send.
This is separate from usage analytics: turning one off does not change the other, and neither affects your access to any part of Mneme. We only have an email address for you if Apple provides one — if you chose to hide it, Apple gives us a relay address instead, and you can switch that forwarding off at any time in your Apple Account settings.
We do not sell your email address, and we do not give it to anyone else for their own marketing.
8. How long we keep information and how to delete it
Retention periods are in the table in section 3. Beyond those:
- Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device, including your entire study history. We cannot restore it — we never had it.
- Deleting your account removes your account record and access to study content.
- Records we are required to keep for legal, security, or dispute-resolution purposes — including proof that you accepted these documents — may be retained after account deletion.
- Analytics records already collected are pseudonymous and are retained for the period in section 3 before expiring automatically. Switching usage analytics off stops future collection and deletes what your device has not yet sent; it does not delete what we already hold, which expires on that same schedule.
9. Security
Study packs are delivered encrypted and stay encrypted on your device, with keys held in the iOS Keychain and marked so they never leave that device. Sign-in tokens are stored in the Keychain. Server data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production systems is restricted. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
10. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to obtain a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. California residents additionally have the right to know about any sale or sharing of personal information — we do neither.
Revoking your consent. You can withdraw either consent yourself, at any time, without contacting us. Usage analytics: Settings › Privacy › Usage analytics in the app, as described in section 7. Study-update emails: the same Privacy screen in Settings, or the unsubscribe link in any email, as described in section 7a. To withdraw consent to everything else, delete your account and the app; that ends all collection.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@mneme.study. We will verify your request against your account. Note that most of what you might think of as "your data" — your study history — is on your phone and not in our possession, so we cannot produce or delete it for you; deleting the app does that completely.
11. Children
Mneme is a study application for professional and academic examinations. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at privacy@mneme.study and we will delete the account and the information associated with it.
12. Where we operate
Mneme is offered in the United States only, and information is processed in the United States. We do not offer the app in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, and it is not designed for the requirements that apply there.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy materially, we will notify you in the app and ask you to accept the new version before you continue using Mneme. We keep a record of which version you accepted and when.
